Nigel is Lead Architect at Payments NZ, with 30 years’ experience in IT across a range of industries, with a particular focus on financial services and banking.  He has been instrumental in establishing the technical standards for open banking as part of the API Centre, and also works on payments direction and other strategic initiatives for Payments NZ.  His particular interests in the future of payments include tokenisation, real-time and data-rich payments, new payments instruments such as stablecoins, digital identity, quantum computing and ensuring the safety and efficiency of payments in a world where AI creates both opportunities and challenges.
